Mordialloc Florist has been operating for more than 20 years in its current location. The Thornton Family purchased the business late in 2008. The old shop was gutted and refurbished to its current style. If you ever saw the old shop, you would know it needed it!
Megan Thornton has been a qualified florist for more than 15 years, gaining her certificate in New Zealand and traveling to Australia to work so she could gain experience in the floral arts. Megan was employed by some of Melbourne’s best florists, and tries to encourage the same freedom of expression in her staff, as these early employers encouraged in her.
Staff can make or break a florist. Megan has been blessed with the “make” type of staff. Every florist has a favorite style. It’s only when you can recognize and combine these styles that you are able to provide a complete service. Naomi, Hayley and Marnie make the core of our team, with a number of specialist florists and friends that frequent busy periods.
Megan’s favorite type of job is anything that pleases, but if given a choice, it would be installation work. Mordialloc Florist does many large installation jobs. Our work can be regularly viewed at City Of Kingston functions, weddings across Melbourne, Real Estate viewings and auctions, business meetings and functions, cafes and restaurants and the occasional country or interstate wedding.
Megan has done her Sister’s wedding on the Gold Coast, with the majority of the flowers coming from Melbourne and traveling cross country in the company van, fragile items as hand luggage by Air.
Megan has also done a girlfriend’s Wedding in Queenstown New Zealand, again from Melbourne.
